Primitive Hudson Valley blanket chest in original green paint, having a lift top storage area, over 2 drawers with batwing brass pulls and original locks and hasp (the pulls with 2 loose handles and 1 missing handle are old and possibly original). The lid with surface imperfections, stains, excessive wear to front edge and loss to side molding on right - also loss to back edge of right side where it meets the backboards, overall fair condition. Signed in black script on reverse "J. Mad.... (?) / Dover Plain / Dutchess Co. N.Y.". Measures 44"W x 19 3/4"D x 35 1/2"H.
