Bound in early limp vellum. *************** The life of Pope Pius V (1504-1572, Papacy 1566-1572), most noted for his role in the Council of Trent and the Counter-Reformation. Perhaps of greatest interest here is the fifth part of the book which largely relates to the Battle of Lepanto, in which the Holy League defeated the Ottoman Empire despite being heavily outnumbered.
