**Originally Listed At $250**
North America, Utah & Ohio, Cambrian to Devonian period, ca. 542 to 360 million years ago; New York, Herkimer County, ca. 500 million years ago; Western Europe, Germany, Cretaceous period, ca. 65.5 million years ago. A great collection of 5 pieces of natural history: 3 fossilized sea creatures, a quartz Herkimer diamond, and piece of amber. The brachiopod fossil is from Ohio that is fully excavated, and the surface covered in glimmering pyrite. The next is also a full excavated echinoid, a fossilized sea urchin with a highly domed shape. The next is an Asaphiscus trilobite excavated from the surrounding matrix as a flat form. The crystal, often referred to as a Herkimer "diamond" due to the naturally faceted shape, is a quartz crystal with 18 facets and double points. The amber nugget is polished and, if you look closely, there are two minuscule gnats trapped inside the matrix! Size (echinoid): 2.25" Diameter x 2" H (5.7 cm x 5.1 cm)
Provenance: ex-Stein collection, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA, acquired prior to 2010
