Early 19th century. An original hand-colored copper engraving titled "The Gay Lithario. The Great and Celebrated Amateur of Fashion" by William Elmes. Published by Thomas Tegg (British).
Overall good condition. Graphite marks in the and edge wear along the margins. 10.5" W x 16.0" L.
Provenance: From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
