ENGLISH CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF EIGHT, including three armorial examples including one Imari-decorated featuring a bird with outstretched wings to center and encircled with "MENTE / MANUQUE" and two featuring a hand-painted lion passant with front paw on a fleur de lis above a shield with other heraldry symbols, two polychrome hand-painted floral examples, each having red hand-brushed "Char..tte Eliz..th Cook. Pins..t / Putney Park / 1821", and two Worcester examples featuring a Chinoiserie-style polychrome crane and foliate design. Marks to underside include red hand-brushed crown with crossed batons and "D" below, impressed "WEDGWOOD", and black-printed and impressed Worcester crown. Royal Crown Derby Porcelain, Derby; Wedgwood, Etruria; Worcester Porcelain, Worcester, England. 19th century. 8 5/8" to 10 1/2" D.
Condition
Six undamaged, except most having some wear to enamel and/or gilt decorations; bird armorial example having very faint radial hairline to center with some professional restoration to rim; one lion armorial plate with minor chip to foot ring.
