Description
3rd-4th Century AD. A large stone with the head facing right of a bearded man. Near East, Roman, charged in deep relief. The expression is quite somber with minor detailing of the hair and eyes. Size: 11-7/8" H. + custom base. Provenance: Malters Galleries, Inc, 2008 acquired by Dr. Henry Cherrick, a professor and dean at UCLA School of dentistry who pioneered government programs promoting dental care in HIV/AIDs patients. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiquities and died at the age of 84 in 2023.
