Description
Probably Late Period Ca 715 to 300 BCE. A well carved alabaster Lid for a Canopic Jar representing the human-headed son of Horus, Imsety carved with the ears protruding from the full rounded wig, the serene features with well-defined almond eyes, extended cosmetic lines, and pronounced lips. A ridge is underneath with rounded center for fitting to the jar. Dimensions: 4 3/4 "H x 4" W. Provenance: Ex Ancient Resource LLC, Glendale Ca, acquired by Dr. Henry Cherrick, a professor and dean at UCLA School of dentistry who pioneered government programs promoting dental care in HIV/AIDs patients. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiquities and died at the age of 84 in 2023.
