Description
N.C. Wyeth (1882-1945) was an American artist and illustrator. He is best known for his illustrations of classic adventure stories and children's books, including Treasure Island, The Last of the Mohicans, and Robin Hood.
Wyeth was born in Needham, Massachusetts, and showed an early talent for art. He studied under Howard Pyle, a prominent illustrator and teacher, who had a significant impact on Wyeth's style and approach to illustration.
Wyeth went on to have a successful career as an illustrator, producing numerous illustrations for books, magazines, and advertisements. He was particularly skilled at creating dramatic, action-packed scenes that captured the spirit of adventure and excitement in the stories he illustrated.
In addition to his work as an illustrator, Wyeth was also a painter and created many landscapes, seascapes, and portraits. He was a member of the Brandywine School, a group of artists who lived and worked in the Brandywine Valley region of Pennsylvania and Delaware.
