Steve McCurry is an American photographer who is best known for his iconic photograph "Afghan Girl," which was featured on the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1985. He was born in 1950 in Pennsylvania, USA and studied film at Pennsylvania State University before going on to work as a photographer for a local newspaper.
McCurry has traveled extensively throughout the world and has photographed people and places in countries such as Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, and Tibet. He is known for his vivid, colorful images that often capture the essence of a culture or a moment in time.
In addition to his work for National Geographic, McCurry has published several books of his photography, including "The Unguarded Moment," "South Southeast," and "Monsoon."
