Description
Jalisco, West Mexico ca. 100 BCE - 250 AD. This standing female figure has well-formed features: expressive lips, aqualine nose sporting nose ring, and bichrome decorated ear-spools. She wears red-orange crested headdress with ridged decoration. She is adorned with 4 large shoulder pellets on each shoulder, and her breasts are covered in swirling tattooing. Dimensions: 8.3" H.Provenance: Ron Normandeau, Antropos Fine Art, Laguna Beach, CA, acquired by Dr. Henry Cherrick, a professor and dean at UCLA School of dentistry who pioneered government programs promoting dental care in HIV/AIDs patients. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiquities and died at the age of 84 in 2023.
