It was believed to have magical properties, such as the ability to ward off evil spirits and protect the wearer from harm. It was also associated with courage and strength and was often used to adorn military regalia and other symbols of power. Roman necklaces have a rich history, dating back to the earliest days of the Roman Empire, and were worn for a variety of reasons, from personal adornment to social status. These necklaces were often made from a variety of materials, including precious metals, gemstones, and glass, and were crafted using a range of techniques, from beading and stringing to wirework and casting.Size: L:240/480mm / W:mm ; 34.83gProvenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
