Ca. 300 AD. A carnelian intaglio with captivating beauty features a mesmerizing mermaid in a full sea with calm, accentuated waves. Above three eight-pointed stars. The mermaid, with arms outstretched and facing right, is adorned with a stunning radiating headpiece. The mermaid, a mythical creature of the sea, is a symbol of freedom, grace, and beauty, and embodies the spirit of exploration and adventure. Intaglios were small, intricate carvings made from precious gemstones, such as carnelian, and were often used as seals or amulets.
