Description
**Originally Listed At $3000**
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, La Tolita (Tumaco) culture, ca. 600 BCE to 450 CE. An exemplary pottery figure of a standing female displaying a bare chest with pointed breasts and a bulging, pregnant belly that hangs over her short skirt. Gesturing forward, her arms extend outward from her square shoulders, bending at the elbows as though beckoning her viewer, while an openwork navel perforates her rotund abdomen. Her visage maintains a dream-like, sedated expression with barely open eyes, a round nose, and gently parted lips, all crowned by a helmet-like headdress that straps beneath her pointed chin. She is additionally adorned by many ornaments decorating her ears, nose, neck, and chest. Size: 6.9" W x 14.9" H (17.5 cm x 37.8 cm); 15.4" H (39.1 cm) on included custom stand.
