Description

From southern Peru, Nazca, ca. 200 - 600 CE. A superb and quite large twin-spouted vessel with bridge handle; decorated in shades of brown tan and red with upper panel of the Nazca underworld diety with his long serpentine tongue hanging from his open mouth; lower panel again with this diety and two human faces in profile. The very bottom and very top of the vessel are each decorated in four quadrants each in alternating deep brown and off-white. 9"H x 7-1/2"D.
