Two Chinese famille rose bowls
19th-early 20th century
Comprising one red-ground bowl with figures, six-character mark to underside; and a white-ground octagonal bowl with insects, flowering fruit motifs, and Buddhist emblems. (2).
H: 3 3/8, W: 7 3/4, D: 7 1/8 in.
H: 8.57, W: 19.68, D: 18.1 cm. (largest)
Provenance: Mrs. Jolovitz, Bethesda, Maryland. Mrs. Jolvitz was born in Shanghai in the 1930s. Her parents left Russia in the 1920s and moved to Harbin, China, then Shanghai and Hong Kong. Eventually, they immigrated to United States in 1950s. These items were collected by Mrs. Jolovitz's mother in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
