CONDITION: Normal wear along edges. No visible inpaint under UV light.

BIOGRAPHY:
He was born in Hastings, East Sussex, England on May 15, 1943. Aged 16 he attended the Hastings school of Art then studied illustration at Goldsmiths, New cross, London, England. He moved back to Hastings in 1967 working as a typography tutor at Goldsmiths, later taking a part time post at Hastings college.He began painting full time in the early 70's. Perfecting his unique technique based on the Old Masters. His painting style is accurate to the period he was depicting with in depth research beforehand.Style and subjects - Marine art, ship portraits, notible historic scenes from the American war of Independance and British naval history between 1760 - 18 80's.He didn't belong to any societies or exhibit with artists association exhibitions, although he did win the Schaefer Award 3 times, which was unknown to him until after the events and he only visited the U.S. once to recieve the award in person as he wasn't fond of public events.Three of his paintings were destroyed when the twin towers fell as they were in company board rooms. His last painting, the biggest one he'd ever painted, was specifically commissioned by the then newly built Minnesota Marine Art MuseumLouis Dodd died aged 63 on August 26, 2006.
