A Scottish Dirk Of An Officer In A Volunteer Regiment Of The Black Watch Late 19th CenturyWith tapering blade (light pitting) notched and fullered along the back and double-edged towards the point, one side etched with a Scottish martial trophy, a Highlander in uniform and a vase of Scottish foliage, and on the other with the figure of St. Andrew amid scrolling foliage, swelling rootwood grip carved with basketweave and set with silver studs on the outside, white-metal basal mount cast and chased with thistles, and pommel carved with leaves and set with a foiled piece of faceted glass in imitation of a cairngorm, in original wood-lined scabbard covered in brown leather (minor losses of finish) with border engraved white-metal locket, chape and mounts for the by-knife and fork each set with thistles, the locket centred on the figure of St. Andrew, the by-knife and fork en suite with the dirk 31 cm. blade
