Description
Graham Greene 1st American Edition "Rumour at Nightfall"
Graham Greene (1904-1991). Rumour at Nightfall. Garden City, New York: Doubleday, Doran and Company, 1932. First American edition. Unsigned. Repair at the upper hinge. Light fading to cloth at spine and edges. Red endpapers, red top page edges. A few pencil notations from previous collector at endpages appear easily reversible. Dust jacket with price at $2.50, adhesive tape at verso, light sunning at spine, minor creasing and chipping at edges. Overall, a very good copy with scarce dust jacket that nearly all other copies lack.
This was Greene's third novel, which he was quick to suppress for being, in his own words, "of a badness beyond the power of criticism." As a result, only 1,018 copies were sold.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
