Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Lambayeque Valley, Sican-Lambayeque culture, ca. 750 to 1375 CE. A mold-formed pottery vessel with highly burnished surfaces, a flared foot, a spherical body, and a thick stirrup-shaped handle arching behind a tapered spout. The foot is adorned with excised geometric motifs, and atop the body is a petite monkey with huge eyes and perky ears. Size: 4.5" W x 7.9" H (11.4 cm x 20.1 cm)
