A black and white Surrealist work depicting a Civil War era tintype figural image of a well dressed male figure, held in a keepsake frame, with additional forms, including cottage, fence, and other architectural elements, forest landscape, and large figural female face superimposed to bottom. Artist signed with initials and dated below work J.N.U. 1974. Additional artist signature to bottom right of mat JERRY N. UELSMANN, and further artist signature with obsolete artist contact information and additionally dated 1974 to verso. The artist is one of the world's most collected photographers. Presented under glass in a gallery quality metal frame. Provenance: Accompanied by signed photocopy letter by artist to original owner, dated 1979, describing work, and catalog page with both artist and previous owner's hand written notations.
