The book is not intended to form a guide to Egypt but rather for the use of travelers who have a few weeks to spend in Egypt and who wish to carry some important facts related to the fast perishing remains of one of the most interesting and ancient civilizations. The book provides descriptions of the monuments, a few chapters on the history of the country during the rule of the Pharaohs, its people, religion, and method of writing. The book also includes a list of the most important Egyptian kings, a transliteration of each name and a list of three hundred hieroglyphic characters and their phonetic values!
