Pre-Columbian Costa Rica Nicoya Burnished Brown Tripod Pottery Bowl. Location: Guanacaste, Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica. Date: Circa. 1000 - 1250 A.D. Type: Rare type of tempered brown burnished/slipped chocolate ware with elegant sharply angled bowl, three rattle legs, and four evenly spaced small node-like appendages around the center of the body. The upper shoulder of the bowl is decorated with incised linear stippled lines/hashes. Size: Approx. 3.25" H x 5.5" D Condition: Very good condition; breakage to one leg, possible repairs, see photographs.
