Description
Original American World War II propaganda poster, 20 x 28.25 in., bearing an image of a young sailor flashing a grin as he walks away under the weight of canvas and a bundle of ropes slung over his shoulder. The red text box at the bottom left reads: ‘If you tell where he’s going...He may never get there!’. The image was created by artist John Falter, whose name is displayed at the top left. Falter served with the U.S. Navy during the war and created over 300 posters, this particular example being one of his most popular. The printing line is seen at the bottom and reads: ‘U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE: 1943-556153’. A tear at the top left has been repaired with tape, some light chipping and mailing folds, else very good.
