Description
Lot of two American posters from World War II, with a theme focusing on the fight with Japan after Pearl Harbor. Includes: a 28 x 40 in. color poster depicting a burning U.S. battleship with a clench-fisted Navy man overhead, and the bold text ‘Avenge December 7’ superimposed over the imagery. Marked at the bottom margin ‘OWI Poster No. 15’ and indicating publication from the U.S. Government Printing Office in 1942; WITH a 30 x 40 in. color poster bearing a graphic image of a U.S. dive bomber attack on a Japanese aircraft carrier, with the caption at the bottom reading ‘Produce For Your Navy – Victory Begins At Home!’. Further text at the bottom right corner bears a message from Admiral Ernest J. King urging Americans to ‘Make every minute count!’. The printing line for the Einson-Freeman Co. appears at the bottom left margin. Both pieces bear unfortunate tears at the folds, some having been repaired with tape. Very delicate.
