Description
A nice piece of 'railroadiana', a black painted carbide lantern, 4 x 12 in., used by railroad and mine workers. Features a glass face, metal doors on the sides that latch closed and a curved top with a maker mark, designating the manufacturer as J. Kampschulte Co. of Osnabruck, Germany. The open ends at the top and holes along the top and bottom allow heat to escape. The inner parts are no longer present. Chipping to the paint throughout. Believed to be ca. 1930. Just good condition.
