Description
Patent letter awarding the title of Baronet to Sir Arthur Clive Morrison Bell (1871-1956) British soldier and member of Parliament. Vellum document measures 22" x 29" and presents a 6.25" royal wax seal at bottom of document housed in tin case. Folded document is dated July 18th, 1923. Document is in near mint condition and is housed in a red leather covered box measuring 19" x 12.5" x 4.4" that exhibits coat of arms of England on lid. box leather exhibits some wear with some corner/edge abrasions. Morrison-Bell was educated at Eton and Sandhurst and served as an officer in the Scots Guards during the Boer War. Her attained the rank of major in the Scots Guards in 1908 shortly before he retired from military service. He was elected a Member of Parliament in 1910 and rejoined the army in 1914 until he was captured in 1915. He returned to England in 1918 and held his seat in Parliament until he retired in 1931. He was made a Baronet during the King George V Birthday Honors in 1923.
