Description
Ancient Near East/Central Asia, Sasanian (Sassanian/Sasanid) Empire, ca. 224 to 651 CE. A pair of silver drachm coins with very similar faces; the Sasanian Empire had tight control over coin mintage, and coins were very consistent and usually bore the royal portrait on the obverse and a fire altar with two attendants on the reverse - as seen here. Size: 1.13" L (2.9 cm); silver quality: 90.85% to 92.69%; weight: 3.4 grams
