Essie Treat Ward

Titled "Chitlin Time," depicts an older man and woman preparing a pig surrounded by various other animals in front of a modest home. Ward's works often depict pioneer life and feature the characters Miranda and Hezzakaiah. Her primitive, and sometimes humorous, works have since given her the affectionate title of "Grandma Moses of the Ozarks."
