STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATTER, featuring the "LANDING OF GEN. LA FAYETTE / At Castle Garden in New York 16 August 1824", depicting the arrival of the Marquis de Lafayette from France to New York Harbor. Impressed "CLEWS / WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE" with crown mark to underside. Ralph & James Clews, Cobridge, England. 1814-1834. 18 3/8" x 14 1/2".
