Description
STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATE, comprising one featuring the Arms of "NEW YORK", depicting a spread-wing American eagle flanked by sitting Liberty and Justice, having "EXCELSIOR" at base of shield with rising sun, having vine and flower border decoration. Having printed eagle mark grasping ribbon with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and impressed eagle with "T. MAYER STOKE STAFFORDSHIRE / WARRANTED". Thomas Mayer, Stoke, England. 1826-1838. 9 3/4" D.
