Description
Huaka Woman's Ceremonial Belt, Achiri, Pacajes Region, 19th C. Alpaca warp and weft. Size: 37'' x 4'' (94 x 10 cm). The yarns is so finely spun to the extent that water beads on its surface. The belt displays a range of traditional motifs that even can be found on Pre-Columbian weavings. The most prominent designs are the Inca Sun figure, Inti, the step chevron mountain motif, and the trophy head combat pattern.
