A rare and highly collectable pair of Finn Juhl 48 armchairs manufactured by Baker Furniture Company in the 1950's. Solid sculptural teak frame with a hunter green upholstery seat and back rest. Embossed maker's mark on rear stretcher. The 48 Chair is part of the 48 Series which was presented at the Cabinet Makers' Guild Exhibition in 1948. In 1948, the Danish newspaper Politiken wrote the following review about Finn Juhl and Niels Vodder's stand "The Study of an Art Collector... The collaboration between Vodder and Finn Juhl is not a new one but this year they have managed to reach a new level, best classified as a new school of design." From a private collection. Dimensions: 32"h x 37.5"w x 24"d x 21"seat depth x 15" back height x 25"arm height x 18"seat depth. In very good vintage condition.
