A surreal spiritual wood engraving on BFK Rives paper titled "Paradise 26, Meeting of the Forces of Luxury" from the Divine Comedy Suite by Salvador Dali (unsigned). "Look, look; behold the baron who on earth draws pilgrims to Galicia - thus, elate, my lady made me know that spirit's worth." In the early 1950s, in celebration of the 700th birthday of the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri, the Italian government commissioned the Surrealist master Salvador Dali to create 100 illustrations for a commemorative edition of The Divine Comedy. From a private collection. Dimensions: 17"h x 15.5"w x .5"d (framed). In very good vintage condition. Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was a Spanish painter who was one of the most influential and celebrated artists of the 20th century. Known as one of the founders of the Surrealism movement, he became an artistic icon. His work today can be found in countless museums, galleries, and institutions across the world, and his impact on the modern art world will be remembered for generations to come.
