figural emblematic of Sloth and Mischief c.1875, after an original by Louis Auguste Malempr?. Modelled as large monkey riding a tortoise, his tail passing around the tortoises neck to form reins, all upon a turquoise ground and all supported on a cobalt canted cornered pedestal base. An example is displayed at the Spode Museum, Stoke on Trent, England, 17".
