The tall vase of chalice form and glazed in robin's egg blue, executed in sgraffito and applied decoration with a row of two overlapped figures joined by "shields," incised "Scheier" beneath. H: 18.75 in., Diam: 12 in. Provenance: From a group of personal property once belonging to Edwin and Mary Scheier in Durham, New Hampshire, that was purchased along with the house by the current owner in 1968. From 1940 to 1968 the Scheiers taught in the Art Department at the University of New Hampshire. Upon their retirement, they decided to move permanently to Oaxaca, Mexico. This lot has not previously been offered for sale.
