Description
Circa: might be Guangxu period (r. 1875-1908), Qing Dynasty. Consisting of 3 garments, first one is a traditional chinese "Ru" (also called "shan", a short jacket) with motifs of asian clouds, peacocks and cherry blossoms. Second garment is a traditional "Ku" (also called "kuzi", pants or trousers), marked with the chinese word ?, which means jewel or treasure, and it is decorated with flowers and birds. Third piece is a wonderfully preserved womanÃs skirt (yulin baizhe qun, or mamianqun), appears to be damask and satin with embroidery in what it looks like silk floss and thread, with motifs of peacocks and cherry blossoms. An uncannily similiar piece is displayed at the Royal Ontario Museum (see link below). Condition: they all have some tears due to age. Sold as is. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Woman%27s_skirt_(yulin_baizhe_qun),_China,_Qing_Dynasty,_c._1880-1900,_damask_and_satin_-_Patricia_Harris_Gallery_of_Textiles_%26_Costume,_Royal_Ontario_Museum_-_DSC09380.JPG
