Pair of Regency Gilt-Bronze Argand Lamps, Attributed to Thomas Messenger & Sons
first quarter 19th century, set with acanthus-molded oil tanks flanked by arms labeled by retailer "J. DeVille, 367 Strand, London", on stands with three lion-headed monopodiae above a paw-footed base, retaining much of their original gilt-lacquer finish, set with frosted and cut glass shades.

Condition
In good "as found" condition. There is scattered wear to the gilt surfaces. They are wired for electricity. The shades are not of the period, most likely a later replacement. There is a loss to one of the vents below the arm on one lamp.
