Framed War Department printed and holograph document with signatures of Grover Cleveland as President and William Endicott as Secretary of War. Hand signed in ink to lower right. Dated January 23, 1888. Document is a commission for Second Lieutenant in the Infantry. Inscribed in upper left corner, illegible. Section of document removed, some buckling and creasing observed. Not examined out of frame. Professionally framed in wood frame under mat and Tru-Vue Museum Glass. Measures approx. 20.25 x 15 5/8 inches, window approx. 18.5 x 14 inches. Stephen Grover Cleveland was an American lawyer and politician who served as the 22nd and 24th president of the United States from 1885 to 1889 and from 1893 to 1897.
