Western Europe, probably Italy or France, Neoclassical period, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful wood pediment featuring a pair of cherubs flanking a torch above a central cross. The adorable angels sit atop decorative scrolls and acanthus leaves, while a wreath surrounds the cross, all wonderful elements of Classical decoration. A beautiful and stately ornament for any refined household! Size: 21.5" L x 7" W x 16.25" H (54.6 cm x 17.8 cm x 41.3 cm)

Provenance: private Rancho Mirage, California, USA collection, by inheritance in 2020; ex-Dr. TDR Berreth, California, USA, acquired before 1982
