An ancient Gandhara figure of Buddha. This stucco figure depicts Buddha in a seated meditation posture, often referred to as the dhyanasana. Mounted to a black base. The figure is likely to have been part of a larger religious ensemble or temple decoration showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship and artistic skills of the Gandharan artisans. Gandhara was an ancient region located in present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan known for its rich Buddhist heritage and artistic traditions. The region flourished during the first few centuries CE and played a crucial role in the spread of Buddhism across Central Asia. Circa the 3rd or 4th century CE.
