Description
Early 19th century, China. Vase features intricate design of dragon and bird of paradise on front and verso on a dense polychrome floral and vinery on turquoise ground beneath a wide band of floral reserves beneath an indigo band of geometric trelliswork, all beneath a dramatic everted lip of floral reserves. The complete interior of the vase has a bright indigo layer of applied enamel with rough texture. SIZE: 24" h. PROVENANCE: From the John Webber Estate of Bangor, Maine. CONDITION: underside of bottom of vase was also originally enameled but now most is missing. Overall very good. (05-605/TG). $1,500-2,500.
