A delightful wood kachina doll representing the Cloud Kachina, attributed to the Pooley family of Hopi carvers. The figure is elaborately dressed in a helmet mask flanked by 2 steppe-shaped tablettas and crowned by a feather. He wears a long robe intricately painted in vibrant pigments. The Cloud Kachina represents the beauty of the clouds in the sky and the monumental importance of rain to provide moisture for the crops in the arid Southwest. Size: 5.5" W x 12.4" H (14 cm x 31.5 cm)

Losses to periphery of proper left tabletta and tip of feather, as well as some minor chips to hands, feet, and paint. Nice remaining pigments.
