Description
Buddy Holly Personally Owned White Goodyear Suede Shoes W/(2) Letters of Provenance - These Goodyear shoes were personally owned and worn by legendary entertainer Buddy Holly. These shoes, designed by Goodyear, are made of white suede with orange leather soles, and feature a classic lace-up design. These shoes were originally obtained directly from Buddy Holly's widow Maria Elena Holly at a Buddy Holly fan festival in Lubbock, Texas, who confirmed that these shoes were worn both in concert and in private by Buddy Holly. This lot includes two signed letters of credible provenance regarding the same. Born Charles Hardin Holley in Lubbock, Texas during the Great Depression, he opened for Elvis Presley during a 1955 show and subsequently became one of the most influential figures in the 1950s rock 'n roll scene with an impressive release of chart-topping recordings. He passed away tragically at the age of 22 due to a plane crash, yet his legacy has endured, with a multitude of artists drawing direct inspiration from his distinctive voice and stage presence, including the Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, and Elvis Costello. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, and is consistently ranked as one of the greatest entertainers to have ever existed.
