Description
Jerry Lee Lewis "Million Dollar Quartet" Signed 8" x 10" Photograph W/COA - This 8" x 10" black and white satin finish photograph is signed in red felt tip ink by Rock and Roll legend, Jerry Lee Lewis. This is the famous photo entitled "Million Dollar Quartet" and captured the recording of an impromptu jam session involving Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash on December 4, 1956 at the Sun Records Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. The subsequent recording, "Million Dollar Quartet" was initially released in Europe in 1981, and the session is considered a seminal moment in rock and roll history. It appears to have taken place by chance when Perkins arrived at the studio to record some new material. Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records then brought in his latest acquisition, Jerry Lee Lewis, to play piano. That afternoon, a 21 year old Elvis stopped by with his girlfriend Marilyn Evans during the session. Phillips called in a local newspaper to record the event and the headline read "Million Dollar Quartet". In the uncropped version of the photo, Evans is shown seated atop the piano, hence the name "Quartet". The lot includes a certificate of authenticity.
