Description
Celtic Tribal variation of Greek gold 'stater' of Alexander the Great (336-323 BC), but issued later (302-200 BC). Of lower gold than traditional Greek stater, weighing 4.89, mixed with silver. Typical of all Alexander coins, many groups made their coins similar to the Macedonian issues. This coin shows the head of Athena wearing a crested Corinthian helmet decorated with a snake. Reverse shows Victory holding a wreath with Greek lettering. VF.
