**Originally Listed At $700**
Ancient Near East, Syria, Syro-Hittite culture, Bronze Age, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. An adorable bronze bull boasting a minimalist yet stylized form with an elegant silhouette quite appealing to the modern eye. The ancient animal stands atop 4 tapered legs as its long neck stretches forward displaying a prominent dewlap and a petite head with projecting ears and curved horns. An ancient wire encompasses its neck suggesting it was previously attached to another object, perhaps a petite plow, and used as a cult object. Bulls were a recurring theme in the ancient Near East, most likely symbolizing the leader of the herd, and thus representing strength and virility.
