Description
Two Civil War Union Admirals' Signatures. (1) Union Rear Admiral John Rogers (1812-1882) signature with rank. Signed note dated Feb. 21st, 1873. He served throughout the Civil War and was involved in many naval battles and blockades. When John Rogers died he was the Navy's oldest active war admiral. Note measures 4 7/8" X 4 1/8". (1) Union Admiral Samuel Lee (1812-1897) autographed slip. Samuel was a cousin of Robert E. Lee. However, this did not stop him from taking the side of the Union during the war. He is famous for saying, when asked about his loyalty, "When I find the word Virginia in my commission I will join the Confederacy." Autographed slip measures 3/4" X 2 1/4". Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The Larry Mangus Collection, Corinth, Mississippi. Condition- Both have some toning. The note has a crease and a few stains. See photos.
