Seven U.S. Political Figures Signatures, 19th Century. (1) George Sewell Boutwell (1818-1905) autographed note card. Boutwell was the First Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). He was an antislavery Democrat who would later join the Republican party. Boutwell would also be a senator as well. The note card is dated Nov. 18, 1875 and measures approx. 2" X 3 1/2". (1) Senator Samuel Jordan Kirkwood (1813-1894) autographed note card. Kirkwood was a senator and governor of Iowa. He urged President Lincoln toward emancipation and the use of black soldiers. Kirkwood was also the Secretary of the Interior under James A. Garfield. Measures 1 7/8" X 3 3/8". (1) Postmaster General Thomas Lemuel James (1831-1916) autographed slip. James was the Postmaster General under President Garfield. Autograph slip measures 1 1/8" X 3 7/8". (1) Massachusetts Governor and Senator Edwin Denison Morgan (1811-1883) autographed slip. The slip measures 1 7/8" X 3 1/4". (1) Isaac Wayne MacVeagh (1833-1917) autographed slip. MacVeagh was a Pennsylvanian who served the
