Fiery treatise promoting the doctrine of predestination and denouncing an anabaptist pamphlet on free will. The first edition appeared in Geneva in 1560. Scottish Reformation leader John Knox (c.1514-1572) founded the Presbyterian Church of Scotland and was one of the foremost advocates of nascent Calvinist theology in the English-speaking world. Condition
Minor shelfwear to binding and bumping to corners; title page toned, possibly washed and resized with light exposure; occasional foxing, worming, or dampstains, but still an attractive copy; very good.
