[2], 124, 219 leaves. (7½x5½"), modern smooth calf, covers stamped blind and in gilt, raised bands, spine in seven compartments with small gilt ornament, endpapers renewed.
Important sermons by Latimer, which helped usher the Reformation into England, with provenance from a key 18th century bibliophile. It is said that "the preaching of Latimer more than the edicts of Henry" established the Reformation in English peoples' hearts (Encyclopedia Britannica). Latimer was burned upon the ascension of Mary to the throne. This copy was owned by notable collector William Herbert (1718-1705), with his ownership inscription dated 1773 to title. Both parts with colophon dated 1571, with privilege on the first title page dated 1575. ESTC S108307; STC 15278.
